About
Line Matter are an original Melbourne jazz band playing dynamic, driving and melodic music. Influenced by Pat Metheny, John Scofield, John McLaughlin, Miles Davis and others the quartet creates a unique blend of jazz/fusion music.
The band has playing regularly around Melbourne since early 2016 at venues including Uptown Jazz Cafe, The Woodlands Hotel, Lebowski’s, The Wesley Anne, The Fox Hotel, The Post Office Hotel and more. Highlights in the bands career was its performance at the 2016 Wangaratta Jazz Festival and the 2017 Marysville Jazz & Blues Weekend.
The debut 2018 album In Motion is now for sale on CD Baby , Bandcamp and at our performances. The album features 8 original tunes composed by the band highlighting their improvisational styles and innovative musical ideas. You can listen to audio samples on the Album page.

Line Matter consists of –
Jonathan Moore – Guitar
VCA (Victorian College of the Arts) graduate and gifted improviser Jonathan also contributes to Line Matter as a composer with many of his pieces acting as standards in the bands repertoire. He has also studied with jazz guitarist Stephen Magnusson.
Francesco Acanfora – Tenor Sax
Francesco is also a VCA graduate and is a highly experienced and flexible saxophonist. In Line Matter he brings a commanding yet sensitive tone to the music.
Anthony Pell – Electric Bass
Creating a fluid, flexible but solid foundation Anthony’s fretless bass playing in Line Matter is reminiscent of Jaco Pastorius’ work with Pat Metheny. He also contributes several tunes to the bands repertoire.
Sebastian Jego – Drums
Sebastien is an exciting drummer greatly influenced by Elvin Jones. Coming from the south of France Sebastian has performed with numerous bands and musicians in Europe and Australia including bassist Christian McBride.
